Open hernia surgery is the traditional approach where a single larger incision is made directly over the hernia site. The surgeon pushes the herniated tissue back into place and reinforces the abdominal wall with sutures and/or mesh.
Open surgery may be needed for complex cases or patient preference.
Open surgery is chosen when laparoscopic approach is not suitable.
In open hernia repair, the surgeon makes an incision over the hernia, reduces the herniated contents, and repairs the defect. Mesh is often used to reinforce the repair (Lichtenstein technique).
Hospital stay of 1-2 days. Return to normal activities in 4-6 weeks.
When open surgery is the best option, Dr. Raman Garg ensures the same level of expertise and care.
